There are few condiments I love more than Sriracha. Years ago, it was a sure fire sign that you worked at a restaurant. So while all of you were like “wtf is this?”, I had been putting it on nearly everything for years. There is little that goes on my plate that doesn’t get a drizzle of my beloved rooster sauce. Yes, I enjoy it when my mouth is on fire. It’s weird, but it is my life.
I know there are a ton of recipes floating around the interwebs for sriracha popcorn, and I’ve tried them all. Save buying a small bag of the shit already made that is the same price as an ounce of gold. I’m not into all that. I knew I could make one better, so I tried multiple recipes all in the name of the perfect snack. Also, I realize this is not paleo. I also hope you realize that I’m a real human who has feelings and not a robot. I cannot eat paleo all the time. Deal with it.
If that isn’t pretty, I don’t know what is. There is probably nothing better than butter and hot sauce. Exhibit A: buffalo wings. Ladies and gentleman of the jury, I rest my case.
1/4 cup popcorn kernels – please, for the love of all that is holy, use organic
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1/2 stick of salted butter (or less, but butter isn’t a carb so its okay)
4 teaspoons Sriracha
1 1/2 teaspoons chili-garlic sauce
A FEW shakes of salt
To make your popcorn head over here. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add Sriracha and chili sauce and mix to combine. Once popcorn is popped pour sauce over ze popcorn. I use two forks to mix it together a la, mixing a salad. It works REALLY well. If you don’t do it this way, it will all be ruined. And now, you are ready to eat your popcorn. This would go good with a beer, I presume. I don’t drink beer so I think it goes good with a strong cocktail.
i will eat almost anything if it has sriracha or red pepper flakes on it. totally addicted. we picked up ghost pepper salt recently – that would also be amazing on popcorn!

I have such a crazy hot sauce addiction that I carry out Taco Bell sauce pockets with me wherever I go. It embarrasses my husband, but delights my taste buds 🙂

WHAT! How did I not know about this? It sounds like a Godsend snack. Minus that Germany has weird sweet popcorn that I don’t know would blend so well and we don’t have a microwave or popcorn maker…. slummin’ it.
Fun idea! Everyone’s raving about those Lay’s siracha potato chips, so a popcorn version is a step up in my book!
as if we werent meant to be before…we are now. I LOVE Sriracha. I thought i found a bottle here in the UK and screamed with delight. then i tried it and it was a total imposter and i was pissed.

I am a huge fan of hot sauce on popcorn but I’ve only ever used Mexican hot sauce. I’ll definitely have to give this a try!
